FlashFX
FlashFX is a browser-based motion graphics and animation editor, essentially an accessible, web-native alternative to Adobe After Effects. You've been building it for roughly two years through four complete rebuilds, and it's now a two-product suite.
1. FlashFX Animator
The original product. A timeline-based animation editor that runs entirely in the browser, targeting motion designers, content creators, and developers who need to produce animated graphics without the complexity or cost of After Effects. Core capabilities include:
Timeline system with keyframe interpolation and motion curves
Scene graph / grouping architecture for layered compositions
Mask system, blend modes, and effects pipeline
3D rendering via Three.js (with a one-time unlock pricing model)
Custom binary file format (.ffx), designed to replace Lottie JSON for better performance and fidelity
Marketplace and creator ecosystem for sharing and selling templates/presets
Audio-driven animation and motion curve learning via neural network research (Sprecher Networks)
2. FlashFX Editor
A newer addition, a Premiere Pro alternative for video editing, also browser-based. It sits alongside the Animator and connects to it via a "Render and Import" integration, so users can animate in the Animator and bring those assets directly into the Editor for full video production.
Technical Foundation
FlashFX is built in TypeScript/React, running entirely in the browser, an unconventional choice that you've validated through results rather than community consensus. The rendering stack uses Three.js for 3D, with Theatre.js influence on animation tooling. The custom .ffx binary format was designed specifically to outperform Lottie JSON in both file size and runtime performance.

Positioning
FlashFX sits at the intersection of accessibility and power. it wants to be what Canva is to Photoshop, but for motion graphics. The browser-based approach eliminates installation friction, makes collaboration easier, and opens the tool to a global audience that can't afford or learn After Effects. The marketplace and creator ecosystem give it a platform flywheel beyond just being a tool.
